Hello again fellow Lions—-It has been a busy July and August for the District and me.  I have visited 12 clubs within the district.  I also attended the Secretary/Treasurer/Zone training meeting and assisted with presentations for the treasures.  I also attended the NC council and NCLF meetings as well as White Cane Kickoff, cabinet meeting and zone meeting for the District.

I have also been busy working on upcoming conventions.  I have    attended committee meetings preparing for the 2011 state convention to be held in Fayetteville

I am also committee chair for our District convention to be held at  Little River Golf Resort in Carthage NC on Nov. 5th and 6th.

In the last newsletter, as well as this newsletter, there are two forms concerning the convention. One is to submit an ad for the convention and the second is a registration form.

I encourage each club to purchase an ad for the convention directory and have a second ad for the directory purchased by either a friend of Lions or a business.  If each club submitted two ads that would greatly help defray some expenses of the convention.

Speaking of the convention, Friday night will be fun night with Maggie Edwards entertaining.   She will be singing and I assure you that she will have a great program with some surprises.  The entertainment will take place following a wonderful dinner consisting of Little River house salad, duet of BBQ slow roasted beef brisket and southern pulled pork, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, braised collard greens, and apple cider BBQ sauce followed by Key Lime Pie. WOW!

Saturday morning will consist of the tail twister breakfast buffet, meetings, followed by lunch served in the hospitality room.  If you wish to play a round of golf on Saturday or Sunday a special rate of $55.00 per person which includes golf cart and range balls.  There will be a tournament scheduled on these two days so tee times are limited.

On Saturday evening the Governor’s banquet will be held and the speaker for the banquet will  be International Director Haynes H. Towsend from Georgia.  Director Towsend is a Judge and a dynamic speaker.

Dinner for the banquet will consist of a salad, sautéed chicken scaloppini picatta (angel hair pasta, ratatouille, finished with a lemon caper butter sauce) followed by cheese cake for desert.  All dinners include rolls and butter, and tea and coffee service.

As you can see we are going to have a great and exciting convention.
