The Lillington Lion’s Club, represented by Lions: Adam Self and Bob Hawthorne, made Celebrate Liberty presentations to two eleventh grade classes at Harnett Central High School (approximately 60 students). This is a semiannual event for Lillington Lions. Celebrate Liberty is a North Carolina Lions Club program designed to assist our schools in informing our students about our countries birth and the founders. The Celebrate Liberty program provided copies of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution to fifth and eleventh grade students studying American History. Each students was encouraged to write an essay, “What the Constitution Means to Me,” for scholarship prizes of $100 and $50 US Savings Bonds. In addition, we promoted awareness of how Lillington Lions serve the blind and visually impaired in our community through programs such as: The Vision Van, Camp Dogwood, White Cane and Radio Reading.
